What is an LV Switch Room?

An LV (Low Voltage) switch room is a central hub that controls and distributes electrical power throughout a building or facility. It houses key equipment such as switchgear, distribution boards, isolators, and protective devices, which safely manage the flow of electricity from the incoming supply to different parts of the site. Its main role is to ensure power is distributed efficiently, safely, and reliably to all connected systems and equipment.

Commercial & Industrial Options

For industrial and commercial settings, these rooms act as the central control point for distributing electrical power safely and efficiently across the entire site. Power is brought into the building from the utility supply or transformer and fed into the LV switchgear, where it is then divided into multiple outgoing circuits supplying different areas such as production lines, offices, lighting systems, HVAC equipment, and heavy machinery.

Our LV Switch Room Installation Process

Our work includes the design, installation, and commissioning of LV switchgear, distribution boards, and associated containment systems, ensuring efficient control and distribution of electrical power across the building or facility.

We take care to coordinate with other services and ensure all installations are carried out in accordance with current regulations and industry standards, including those set by the BSI Group. From small switch rooms to complex multi-panel setups in large industrial environments, we ensure every installation is robust, clearly labelled, fully tested, and ready for safe long-term operation.

Testing & Commissioning

After your LV switch room is installed, the next stage is thorough testing, commissioning, and final verification to ensure the system is safe, compliant, and fully operational.

Our team will inspect all switchgear connections, carry out electrical testing (such as insulation resistance, continuity, and functional trip tests), and confirm the correct operation under load conditions. We then coordinate with other building systems to ensure seamless integration with the wider electrical infrastructure.

Once testing is successfully completed, we complete full commissioning and provide all required certification and documentation in line with current standards. This is followed by a detailed handover, where we explain system operation, safety procedures, and maintenance requirements to the client or facilities team.

After handover, we also offer ongoing support, including maintenance, fault response, and future upgrades to ensure long-term reliability and performance of the LV switch room.
